ROCK Project

In 2015, KFAM received an anonymous $50,000 donation towards our bilingual Clinical Counseling Department. With the donation, KFAM started ROCK Pro bono counseling. The acronym ROCK stands for Resilience to Overcome Challenges for Korean families.  In 2014, KFAM provided 18 people with pro bono counseling, in 2015, KFAM provided four times more free counseling for 77 people. This is the most free counseling KFAM has provided because of the donation.

Through the donation, KFAM realized the need for more pro bono counseling sessions. In 2016, another anonymous $50,000 donation was made and again KFAM was able to provide free counseling sessions for more clients.

Through the two generous donations in the last two years, KFAM saw the need of the Korean American community. Therefore, KFAM has launched the ROCK Counseling Project, this project will raise funds to help provide more pro bono counseling sessions for clients with quality mental health care in a supportive and culturally – responsive environment.

The new Counseling Project Director, Sylvia Kwon will be hosting the first fundraising event for ROCK through the LA Marathon on March 19th, 2017. Your sponsorship will be displayed on her running bid. Sylvia is an avid runner for the past 20 years and completing the World Marathon Grand Slam, by running in six different countries. This will be her 66th marathon run. You can donate below.
